[Overview]
Cross-system Data Dictionary for an organization to identify fields by their user names, table names, Java or .NET names, and aliases. This application will also allow cross-referencing between systems.
[Detail]
Currently a data model only, this application is designed to be a place where multiple systems can be detailed, especially to show where common data elements exist across multiple systems, and to document the processes and frequency of updates from one system to another.
Users of this application will be business analysts who are familiar with one system, but want to know where a value comes from (what is the source of Field A in the system I use?), and how often it is updated. Alternately, the administrator of System X containing Field Y may want to know what downstream systems also have Field Y, and how often those others systems are updated if a new value is entered into System X, which is the source system for that field.
Another way of thinking of this application is a mechanism to establish ownership and governance of systems, tables and fields where data is moved around and shared between multiple systems.
